EOT crane components and supplier BOM comparison checklist
A BOM and makes comparison helps buyers see what is inside each EOT crane quote before selecting the lowest price.

EOT Crane BOM & Makes Comparison Checklist

May 31, 2026Procurement8 min read

Quick Answer

Before comparing EOT crane prices, ask each vendor to disclose the make, model, rating, datasheet, and substitution risk for key items: hoist, motors, gearbox, brakes, VFD, control panel, limit switches, overload protection, DSL/busbar, wire rope, radio remote, bearings, wheels, hooks, and spares.

A low EOT crane quote can look attractive until you discover that the vendor used lower-grade components, vague makes, weak spares support, or substituted critical parts after PO. A BOM and makes comparison prevents this by forcing every vendor to disclose what they are actually supplying.

What to Compare in the Crane BOM

ComponentRequired DisclosureWhy It MattersRed Flag
Hoist make/modelMake, model, capacity, duty basisHoist is the main lifting system.Only "standard hoist" mentioned
MotorsMake, kW, duty, insulation classMotor duty affects heat, life, and reliability. No duty rating
GearboxMake, ratio, service factorGearbox quality affects downtime and service cost.Make/model missing
BrakesMake, type, torque ratingBrake selection is a safety issue. No torque value
VFD / controlsDrive make, model, rating, protectionsControls affect smooth motion and maintenance.Panel components not declared
DSL / busbarRating, material, collectors, feed arrangementWeak power supply causes trips and downtime. No voltage drop basis
Wire ropeConstruction, grade, core, certificateDiameter alone is not enough. No certificate or MBF
Safety devicesLimit switches, overload, emergency stop, siren/lightSafety scope must be explicit before PO.Safety devices bundled vaguely

Questions to Ask Vendors

  • Please submit make and model for each critical component.
  • Please attach datasheets for hoist, brakes, motors, gearbox, DSL, wire rope, remote, and safety devices.
  • Please confirm substitutions require written buyer approval.
  • Please identify imported parts, local spares, and expected lead times.
  • Please mark any excluded components or buyer-scope items clearly.

How to Use This Checklist

Use one column per vendor. If one vendor gives clear make/model data and another gives vague wording, do not treat their prices as equal. Normalize the BOM first, then compare commercial terms.
